Cracking the Code Literacy Program

ABC123This is a direct instruction literacy program that takes place four times per week for thirty minutes and is based on university research.

It aims to enable students to access the curriculum more effectively by strengthening their skills in the areas of:

  • spelling
  • reading
  • numeracy.

It also prepares them for life after Berne, either in the workforce, or in further study. In some cases, students who have come to Berne with a low reading age have left with a much higher one, allowing them to access that further education or employment, that was never thought possible.

Students with even greater need are identified and further intensive weekly instruction addresses their specific needs.
